Plot Summary
The plot of Princess Mononoke begins with Ashitaka, the prince of a long lost tribe, trying to save his villaige from a demon boar. The boar, in his deathbed, poison's Ashitaka with a curse. Ashitaka has to venture to the city to seek a cure. He meets up with the wolf princess and the citizens of an industrial city called Iron Town, to try to save the forest and the civilization from disaster.

Ashitaka
The prince of a tribe that was thought to be wiped out some 500 years ago. He is cursed and wanders the "modern" world to search for a cure.

San (a.k.a. Princess Mononoke)
Taken in as a young child by the wolf clan, San tries to maintain her rank in the realm of the forest by waging war with the humans. Her mother thinks of her as a true member of the wolf clan, and refuses to acknowledge her as a human. Although, this feeling is not mutual with the other tribes of the forest. |

Lady Eboshi
Governor of Iron Town, she reigns with a kind heart, taking in all that need help, and protects her land with the sheer power of greed and the anger of an overprotective mother. She is a skilled hunter, and gunsmith. She founded Iron Town to be the leading manufacturer in bullets, and firearms. |

Wolf Tribe
Led by Moro and San, the wolf tribe is one of the most well-known tribes of the fores. It is known for its arrogance and its ability to survive no matter what the odds. The wolf tribe is persistent to no end, trying to eliminate the human threat to the forest. With Moro as their leader, no other tribe in the forest stands a better chance against the humans. |

Jigo
A monk in search of a mountain of traesure, he will do anything he can to make money. He is very intelligent, maybe too much so for his own good. He may be smart, but he cannot often see past his own greed.

Boar Tribe
The boar tribe is stubborn and will do absolutely anything to save the forest. They hate the wolf tribe with a passion, and fear son, as she is a human. They are led by Okkoto, a stubborn, but wise leader, and Nago, an angry, yet fierce warrior. They share the forest with the Ape Clan, the Wolf Clan, the Clan of Tree Spirits, and a few Elder Gods. |

Kodama
The wobbly-headed tree-spirits of the forest. If they appear near a traveler, either he will piss his pants at their incredible cuteness, or they will grant him safe passage through the forest if asked for permission. Everyone should have one, because they are just the most awesome characters in the entire movie!!! |
