Vision of Escaflowne Basic Storyline
Vision of Escaflowne is about a regular high school student named Hitomi. She is on the track team, believes in tarot cards, and has a big crush on the track team captian. Van Fanel, the king of the kingdom Fanelia on the planet Gaea, is teleported to Earth. On Earth, Van has to slay a dragon that got teleported with him from Gaea, so he can get the Energist crystal from the dragon. With this crystal, Van can pilot the mysterious Mecha called Escaflowne. Once slaying the dragon and obtaining the crystal, Van gets teleported back to Gaea. The only problem is that Hitomi got teleported with him! As Van returns back to Fanelia, Hitomi goes with him, but she has horrible visions of war and destruction. Will Hitomi ever get home? What do the visions mean? Watch Vision of Escaflowne to find out!

Hitomi Kanzaki
Hitomi is a prophetic high schooler who is transported to the strange world of Gaea. She is from the "Mystic Moon" as they call it in Gaea (the Mystic Moon is the Earth; it's called Mystic Moon because it is like a moon to Gaea). Hitomi was a great member of her high school track team and seeks her tarot cards for guidence in troubled times. She is attracted to Allen because he reminds her of her crush, the track team captian, Armaro. Later on, though Van and Hitomi fall in love. She constantly has prophetic visions of war and destruction, most involving Escaflowne. |
Van Fanel
Van is the King of Fanelia, a kingdom on the planet Gaea. He is only a teenager, but is the ruler of the kingdom. Van's family are all gone, including his brother, who mysteriously vanished. Van's best friend is the cat girl, Merle. Van is the pilot of Escaflowne. At first, he was annoyed by Hitomi and didnt think anything of her, but eventually grew to love her.

Allen Schezar
Allen is a definete lady-killer. But his looks aren't all he has: he is an expert swordsman, a great guymelef (mecha) pilot, and has an uncanny resemblence to Amano (the track team captian and Hitomi's crush). Allen saves Hitomi numerous times, and is loved by her very mmuch. |
Merle
Merle was an orphan util she was found as an infant and taken into the Fanel royal family. Merle has always loved Van, they have been best friends ever since they were little. She is quite possessive over Van and she doesn't like Hitomi at all. Merle thinks that Hitomi is trying to steal Van away from her, and often gets into arguments with her.
